The ten towns that have seen the biggest house price rises during the last 12 months are all in Northern Ireland. This is the first time that all the towns in the top ten have all been in the same area of the UK.
Newry in Northern Ireland recorded the biggest increase in house prices across the UK in 2006 with an average rise of 54%, according to the fourth Halifax Estate Agent (HEA) annual survey of UK towns.
House price growth in Northern Ireland is the fastest since records began in 1973 with an average house price now exceeding £200,000, according to the latest quarterly review of house prices published by Nationwide.
Rise In Newry Property Value
Newry has seen the biggest jump in property values in the UK over the past year, with prices rising by over 50%.
Newry is approx 40 miles from Belfast and 60 miles from Dublin and lies between two areas of outstanding natural beauty, the Mourne Mountains & Ring of Gullion.
